Social media is dominating the world right now and is going to keep ruling the majority of the internet. So promoting your business on social media is the future of marketing.

Social media has come very far from when it first started gaining traction in the mid-2000s. This growth has not only been in number but the types of users as well. Social media was initially invented as a place where people could connect with loved ones and share their opinions and life experiences with one another. However, its use has changed immensely from the past.

Today, many big companies in the world are pouring in millions of dollars into developing their social media marketing strategy and are looking for new ways they can use these platforms to advertise themselves and their products to the world. Having a presence on social media is no longer an option but rather a necessity for any brand that wishes to survive and thrive in today’s competitive market.

The way companies have used social media in the past is very different from how it is being used now. This is due to the continuous testing of new methods and ways of social media marketing by brands.  Similarly, here are some predictions of how social media marketing is going to be approached in the future:

 Temporary content will rise!

It is reported that there are 500 million Instagram stories uploaded every single day. While Snapchat boasts an impressive 186 million daily active users.  It is clear that people are huge fans of content that is available for only a limited amount of time and then disappears.

This form of ephemeral storytelling is very popular, especially among the youth, and it is predicted, by many, that this might be the only way content is consumed in the future. One-third of the most-viewed Instagram Stories are from businesses. Businesses are realizing how this form of content can be appealing to customers and we will see much more of its usage by companies for marketing in the future as well.

 Influencer marketing will thrive.

A growing trend nowadays is when companies pay influential people on the internet (people who have a large online following) to promote their company. This form of influencer marketing is especially common on Instagram, with people like Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian, and Sommer Ray getting paid millions of dollars by companies to make sponsored posts.

Many people believe that this is not a smart way of marketing as the person is being paid so much money quite often only for a single post. However, many people disagree and say that the large following of these social media influencers justify the amount being spent due to the huge exposure that companies receive in return. In either case, influencer marketing is a booming business and it doesn’t look like it will be slowing down anytime soon.

Video will become the main format of content consumption.

Video is taking over the other formats of content on the internet, as its consumers and producers both increase and people become more and more creative with how it is used. According to Adobe, 52% of marketing professionals name video as the content with the best ROI.

Businesses are realizing that content that is presented in video format is much more likely to captivate customers and bring in engagements. It is predicted that most, if not all, of the content we consume online, will be in the format of video in the future.
